Fabian Miller’s most recent work emerged from Year One and Year Two. The large-scale geometric and circular images of 2009 and early 2010 draw directly on these two sequences, building on the knowledge gained through the disciplined daily picture-making routine. The new work distills the places and light conditions that he explored in his two years of intense productivity. The larger scale forces a deliberate and slower rate of production on the artist, and invites a more intense and encompassing experience for the viewer, one more typical of the experience of abstract expressionist paintings than of photographs. As ever the purity and power of Fabian Miller’s vision shines through.

The Colour of Time by Garry Fabian Miller, from the essay ‘Time and Light’ by Nigel Warburton.

Black Dog, London 2010.
