A Year, Twenty Days of Colour, November 13th-23rd, 1988

Parke Estate, Devon

Leaf, light, dye destruction print

183 x 183 / 72 x 72 "

Working in the autumn for 13 to November when the last leaf fell, Fabian-Miller was able to discover and distill the whole colour range of a year into the ten day span it took to make Distillation. The grid of 144 leaves moves from dark green to fading, muted greens to the yellows of late summer and the burnished bronzes of autumn. The centering of the picture on yellow light is significant, since light is the source and the heart of his work.
