Here the sensuousness of light can be affirmed by Fabian Miller – it is his medium and he swims in it: ‘I’m bathing in it (light), working in it… it gives purpose to life… I end up with a life that’s totally preoccupied with the material'. This physicality was as important to him as any conceptualization of light as disembodied thought – (that ‘mental beam’ of Fludd): 'I’m interested,’ Fabian Miller has said, ‘in the way it feels on my body and on my eyes… but I also think of light as thought, of trying to make visible my thinking.’

Tracing Light by David Alan Mellor and Garry Fabian Miller, 2001. Photoworks ISBN 0 951747 87. Light and the Genius Loci.
